North Laramie Planned Development

The future of North Laramie changed dramatically when an international corporation selected a site in the area as the home for their new Mega Data Center. North Laramie is currently minimally developed, and the new Mega Data Center is likely to become a magnet for additional development in the surrounding areas. This was the motivation for creating the North Laramie Development Vision Plan.

Laramie is home to a sizeable and growing technology cluster of more than 60 companies. These technology firms project they will add more than 100 new jobs in the next five to eight years. We’re not a silo of activity – a strong regional synergy has developed in the last four to five years between Laramie’s burgeoning technology cluster, the University of Wyoming, and Cheyenne’s NCAR, Wyoming’s super-computing center, and the Microsoft Data Center. This unique palette of amenities has culminated in southeastern Wyoming becoming a desirable environment for data centers, technology businesses, and research and development firms.

Turner Tract Mixed Use Planned Development

In 2001 the City conducted a Turner Tract Area Plan and received a Community Development Block Grant of $300,000 primarily for infrastructure development, specifically for Mountain West Farm Bureau, the first occupant of the Turner Tract.  The City was then awarded $1,475,920.22 in 2004 from the Business Ready Community program to extend Boulder Drive and provide water and sewer infrastructure to the office park portion of the Turner Tract area.  The City matched the Business Ready Community Grant with the appraised value of the office park portion of the property. The Turner Tract has become the home of the following:

  • City of Laramie Recreation Center
  • Laramie County Community College - Albany County Campus
  • Mountain West Farm Bureau Insurance
  • Intertech Environment & Engineering
  • Basic Beginnings Day Care Center

Turner Tract has several developed lots ready for construction. A Data Center would be a perfect fit within the mixed use development.
